Bug Report: DD+ audio not being passed correctly.

The Transport Stream demos available at Dolby's site won't pass the digital audio correctly to my receiver.

I'm able to play all of the same TS files with Windows Media Play and have the audio passed to my receiver with no issues.

This is what leads me to believe this is a bug within VLC specific to TS files.

I'm running VLC 2.1.4 64-bit on Windows 7 Ultimate. The audio output device is the HDMI output on my AMD Radeon 5670.

It would be nice for a VLC team member to see if they can reproduce this issue using the demo files at Doly's site.

Of course, DD+ cannot go over SPDIF and we do not support HDMI passthru yet.

Thank you for finally replying.

What's odd is that although you state you don't support HDMI passthru I've played several MKV files with VLC and the receiver is passed the AC3 or DTS bitstream to decode.

I believe there must be some similarity between sending the bitstream over SPDIF and sending it over HDMI otherwise it wouldn't be working (somewhat) even though you haven't officially implemented it.

I guess the next question is do you plan to support HDMI passthrough soon?

Of AC3, DTS, we use SPDIF over HDMI, that's why it works.
