VLC fails to open after Windows 8.1 update

I just completed the latest Windows 8.1 (64) updates on 2 pc's including ( KB2919355). I am using VLC 2.08 (pc1) & VLC 2.13 (pc2) 64bits and both fail to open on either pc after the update. Both worked fine before the update. VLC is my default video player but all videos will not open unless I force a different player such as WMP. On one pc, I attempted to completely remove the player and reinstall new but it still refuses to open. Something stopped working because of update.

Note: I am using version 2.08 on one pc as it is the last version that works with HDHomerun software (http://zaren678.github.io/HdhomerunStreamServer/). See known issues.

Update 1: On one pc using 2.13 (64), I removed and replaced with 2.13 (32bit) and it works fine. So apparently it is related to the 64 bit version only. On other pc, I prefer to keep 64 bit version (2.08) to allow use of HDHomerun which works on 64 bit version only.

I ran ino this exact problem. It turned out to be "the straw that broke the camels back" for me. I dumped Windoz forever, downloaded UNIX and never looked back. Sold the Ipad as well. I'm tired of corporate bozos trying to dictate how I play MY music and videos. I never pirate music or videos and will not accept any dvd player that does not play ALL regions. I paid for the damn discs (UK and Australia) and my player better play them all.

VLC works fantatastic under UNIX. The imaging on two channel .wav files is amazing, better than big buck home theater processors even. All my other apps run WAY faster as well. UNIX makes Windoz look like a cheap toy.

What's the downside to UNIX? You have to want it and that means getting a book and doing the work to learn it. So, dump the Miicrosoft crap and open a whole new chapter. You'll thank me later...

Oh yeah, I never found a "fix" for 8.1 and VLC and I did alot of digging trying to find a fix.

I have discovered the cause of VLC (64 bit) not opening after the latest Windows update. It was a problem with Malwarebytes Anti-Exploit https://www.malwarebytes.org/antiexploit/ software having a bug and requiring an update. Once the update was completed, VLC returned as normal. The solution can be found here https://forums.malwarebytes.org/index.p ... pic=146368. The same bug was keeping Internet Explorer from opening and was also fixed with this update. It mentions possibly affecting Microsoft Office.
