mkv video files do not work (highly pixelated) with VLC.

I use the VLC media player 2.1.4 Rincewind (64-bit version) with Windows 7 64-bit ultimate. I have an Intel quadcore i7 processor at 1.6 GHz with turboboost capability and 8 GB of RAM.
1) I have been using several mkv video files and they were so pixelated when I ran them that I could not go on and watch these mkv video files and I was forced to stop and try to find mp4 video versions instead.
I just wanted to make you aware of this really BIG problem with mkv video files.
2) If one day you could add to the VLC Media player the capability to restart a video or audio file at the same position where it was used previously, it would be a nice feature to add.
I hope these remarks will help you make the VLC media player an even better media player than it is already.
