How do I get rid of Zoom in upper left corner

Every time I start VLC 2.1.2 the movie starts in zoom. The control shows in the upper left corner and I have to try to unzoom it then hide it. Getting back to a unzoomed movie is a little tricky since the control is so small. There must be someplace I can stop the movie from starting in zoom and not have the zoom control show unless I want to turn it on. :?:

Reset preferences.

As an alternative to resetting all your preferences, on Windows 7 I found that I could correct this problem as follows:

Edit the file "C:\Users\{username}\AppData\Roaming\vlc\vlcrc" (there is no file extension).

In my copy with this problem, I found the following text lines:
# Video filter module (string)
video-filter=sharpen:magnify
Once I removed everything after the equal sign and saved the file (i.e., the 2'nd line should now read : "video-filter="), the problem was solved without resetting everything else.

I had the same problem and reset preferences worked great to get rid of it.

I know it sounds stupid but how do I get it back on the occasions i would like to use it?
