How can I play a DVD I have copied to my hard drive?

Postby bazsl » 16 Aug 2005 23:34

I have copied the VIDEO_TS directory from a DVD to my hard drive. This is a DVD that I created so there is no encryption. How can I open and play the movie using VLC Media Player?

I can open the VOB files one by one using Open File but I would like to be able to open the entire movie and watch it without having to stop and open the next VOB file. Thanks

It's kind of obvious to me.

You can use "open directory" and locate your video_ts folder.

I prefer to use "open disc" in DVD mode (without the menus). Type your path in the "open" space at the top.

That does it for me.

If you burn your video_ts folders on DVDs, I prefer to use a desktop shortcut with the following cmd line:

"C:\Program Files\VideoLAN\VLC\vlc.exe" "dvdsimple://F:\VIDEO_TS"

The key here is "dvdsimple" because in my case, my movies do not have menus.

hope that helps.

cheers!
