First of all, sorry for my bad English.

Problem happens with VLC version 2.1.1. I'm using MkvTagger (2013-04-03) to download movie tag data and embed xml into mkv. Before embedding, VLC plays the file just fine.
But with tags embedded, VLC freezes and it's process loads 100% of CPU. Every other player I tried plays that file without problems. Also I downloaded VLC 2.0.7 and it works fine. I think something went wrong in the newest version.

Please share the file that is broken.

Well, that is kind of a problem because all files are few GB in size (movies). I can try to convert only few seconds of the movie, embed xml tags, and share it here... How do I add attachment on this forum?

Just to clarify once more, VLC 2.0.7 is working perfectly, but 2.1.1. cannot play those files.

Upload a short sample of a problematic file to either http://streams.videolan.org/upload/ or to Zippyshare.com (200 MB max) or to EmbedUpload.com, the latter will upload the file for you to several other hosts (use the default ones) and then post the link to the file here.

If needed cut it with DGsplit and read here about how to do it:

I took a short video clip and tagged it as movie.
I tried to play it with VLC 2.1.2 with no luck (window not responding, VLC process consumes almost 100% of CPU). Media Player Classic plays that clip without problems.

Works fine here. Weird.

I tested that video on 2 computers:

1. PC (Windows 8 x64)
-VLC 2.0.7: OK
-Media Player Classic: OK
-VLC 2.1.1: FAIL
-VLC 2.1.2: FAIL

2. Laptop (Windows 7 x86)
-VLC 2.0.7: OK
-Media Player Classic: OK
-VLC 2.1.1: FAIL
-VLC 2.1.2: FAIL

I noticed that VLC 2.0.7 use English for menu by default, but VLC 2.1.1 and 2.1.2 use Croatian (system).
Maybe it affects how VLC detect encoding of xml file, or something like that...

It also fails to play here. VLC hangs with high cpu usage.

Same here...it hangs for soo long that I have to restart the computer. Then sometimes it hangs and just crashes with the error nvlddmkm.sys (Nvidia). After the first crash there is never a problem with VLC again .

File a bugreport.

This shall be fixed in the next release. You can already try the nightly builds at http://nightlies.videolan.org/
