2.1.1 opens too wide when playing music

My previous version of 2.0.x learned that I like the interface to be as narrow as possible when playing music. This new version always opens wider than I like. I then drag it horizontally left to be as narrow as possible, but it doesn't remember my preference, and so I have to resize it every time I open it to play music. Is there some setting in Tools/Preferences I am not seeing that I need to enable to get it to remember my preferences?
