HTTP stream playback annoying issue

I've been using VLC for a very long time to play a specific HTTP stream. Ever since I upgraded from 2.0.8 to 2.1.1 I have a very annoying issue: every now and then (once a day more or less) the stream begins to loop, meaning, VLC plays again some part of the stream in a loop instead of playing the current stream content. I can't say conclusively whether there has been a network downtime just before (I tend to believe there hasn't) or anything of this sense. In 2.0.x the app would show some sort of a network connectivity dialog. Here, anyway, the repeated part may be short enough to contain the same song (I use VLC to play a music stream) on the one hand, but long enough to observe it immediately, on the other hand. It may take quite a long time before I notice that I hear the same pop song, which would normally last 3-4 minutes for 10-20 minutes... Any ideas? Should I report a bug?

Windows 7 (x64)
VLC 2.1.1

I had the same problem last night while listening to Beethoven's 7th symphony on KUSC 95.1 FM via <http://kuscstream.org/mp3/kusc128.m3u>. A fragment of the last movement kept repeating for well over 30 minutes. I stopped the stream and then restarted it. Then, it was playing the current stream.

This happened again within the past hour -- TWICE -- again while listening to a streaming broadcast by KUSC.

I will try version 2.1.2. If it still happens, I will remove VideoLAN and revert to WinAmp even though the latter is no longer being maintained.

It´s happening with LAN streams too. I´m watching TV over LAN with my Dreambox and sometimes VLC starts to repeat the last 30seconds or so in a loop.
VLC212 x32 or x64 doesnt matter, Win7x64. Maybe VLC is loosing it´s ´ internal´ stream connection and start to replay the cache forever

What is the format of the stream?

Windows 7 (x64)
VLC 2.1.3 (x64)

This happened today. I was listening to a streaming broadcast of radio station KUSC via http://kuscstream.org/mp3/kusc128.m3u. The phone rang, so I paused VLC. After I resumed, VLC began to loop on packets that had been previously downloaded and played. Since the loop had some duration, I did not notice how soon after resuming this happened. And I am not sure whether pausing and resuming was the cause.

-----------------

This happened again not quite two hours later, this time without any pausing and restarting. I noticed that all Internet activity had ceased; that is, no streaming packets were being downloaded. I could not stop the looping by pausing, but I did stop the looping with the "Stop Playback" button and was able to restart the streaming with the "Play" button (changed from the "Pause" button when I used "Stop Playback"). Again, the stream was from KUSC radio.

And yet again, looping happened just now. Again, it was with the stream from http://kuscstream.org/mp3/kusc128.m3u. No, I definitely do NOT think KUSC FM is the problem. The problem happens so often with that stream because that is about the only stream to which I listen.

VLC 2.1.3 on Win XP

I have had this looping also with this:
http://mp3.streampower.be/stubru-high.mp3

But it only happens when the internet connection gets interrupted. I wished VLC would just stop and not repeat, because first I assumed the radio station having a problem, until I noticed that my DSL got disconnected. I have not tried it on other streams.

Is this behaviour by design? And if so, is there a way to disable it?

Windows 7 (x64)
VideoLAN 2.1.5 (x64)

It happened again last night, again with the audio stream from http://kuscstream.org/mp3/kusc128.m3u.
