VLC Player With IOGEAR Wireless 1080p Computer to HD

I have been an active and very appreciative and impressed user of the VLC Media player. It's the only player I will use.
I have VLC Player 2.1.0 installed on my Dell laptop and am able to view my media properly on it's display.
I recently purchased and installed the IOGear Wireless 1080p Computer to HD Display Kit (http://www.iogear.com/product/GUWAVKIT4/ ) with the hope of viewing my media on my HD television. In the most part everything is working fine.
I'm uncertain as to how much help anyone can give if unfamiliar with the hardware. The way it works, is the laptop is the primary display. The television becomes the second display. Usingthe hardware's "Viewspan Configurator", setting to "Set as Extended" basically extends the laptop's display over to the television. Dragging an open window from the laptop display to the television allows one to use that window on the television.
Here's the problem, that appears unique to VLC (BTW VLC is a recommended media player by IOGear). If I open a video media file with VLC on my laptop, the video plays wonderfully. However, when I drag the the window over to the television, the window blacks out and there is no video. There is sound, but no video. If I open the file in VLC on the television screen, I have the same problem, but as soon as I drag it to the laptop, the video appears. This does not happen with Windows Media Player. (which I'd prefer to avoid).
Anyone able to provide any suggestions?
