On my Windows 8 64-bit system running vlc 2.0.8 Twoflower, running "Check for updates.." says I am running the latest version even though 2.1.0 is out.
Just giving heads-up.

how can be normal ? if a feature designed to help you know that a new release is available, and is not working as should.
is not 2.1.0 a new release available ?

I have seen this same issue as well. Could it be there is a cut-off between the twoflower and rincewind builds?
