I recently installed 2.1 & the vlc codec pack in XP, & now have a startup process called traymenu.exe running & its icon in the system tray. What is its purpose & can I shut it down ?

There is no such thing as "the vlc codec pack". And VLC has no process named "traymenu.exe".

There IS such a thing as "the vlc codec pack," and I also installed it. I also have the process traymenu.exe in my startup folder. Apparently, it starts vlc media player in the task bar. According to http://download.cnet.com/VLC-Codec-Pack ... 62970.html, this is one of the processes that comes with the vlc codec pack. Since I did not want VLC media player running in the task bar, I just deleted traymenu.exe from the startup folder in the start menu.

Is it that I'm just new here, or is someone with 1 post arguing with a developer about the contents of the original code after downloading off cnet vs videolan.org itself?

Could it be that downloading straight from videolan.org possibly will get you the program in a package as intended by the developers of the program?

I admittedly am new here myself and could just be overthinking this...
