VLC 2.1.0 does not see UPnP devices

Just tried VLC 2.1.0, and found most stuff working as it should. Nicer interface in this version too.

One bug I just encounterd: Universal Plug & Play devices in my network are not recognized, and VLC crashes upon clicking the UPnP item in the left panel.

Is it only me, or does this occur to everyone?

Yes, I have the exact same issue. I had to switch back to 2.08 and it works there. Currently running Win7 64 + SP1. Using the 32-bit version of VLC

I can see UPnP devices with VLC 2.1.0. But for some reason. VLC will display the thumbnail file with it. As a separate file. So I end up having.. MovieA.mkv and MovieA.jpg. 2.0.8 does not have this problem.

I have exactly the same problem. With 2.0.8 everything works. I currently use Windows 8 64 with the 32-bit version of VLC. VLC crashes when you click on the upnp icon on the left side.

Confirming same issues on my end. Just upgraded via fresh install a couple days ago from Win 7 to Win 8.1 x64. Running VLC 2.1.0 32-bit. Nothing shows with UPNP selected under Network and shows no machines with shared media. If I click elsewhere, such as Network Streams, then click back on UPNP, Windows informs me VLC 2.1.0 has stopped working and gives me the option to close the program. All files I am wanting to access are on a Nix box, and it is running MiniDLNA. I just shared the folders within Nix and I can access them OK from File Explorer via the Network in Windows. This is an OK temp fix, but would really like to use VLC for this :-) Everything else with VLC seems to work just fine. I thought I had remembered Windows popping up in the past the first time UPNP is used in VLC, and asking to allow features though Windows Firewall? Did not happen this go around, but I checked firewall settings and VLC is OK on private network. Hope the dev team can figure this one out, will be poking around as well.

Just upgraded to 2.1.0 and it's listing my UPNP servers, but never seems to load the libraries therein.
On 2.0.8 I used to have to wait a while for an arrow to appear next to the UPNP server name, but then I could click to get all the music and videos etc and everything worked.

I registered today to confirm the issue described by the first and second poster: No UPnP services and crash after some time.
2.0.8 worked fine before and after reinstall of 2.0.8 it works ok again.
Using Windows 7, 32-bit.

:( 2.1.1 UPNP doesn't work, I see only my DLNA server. In 2.0.8 I see DLNA device and name of the stream.

Unfortunately UPnP is still not working for me in VLC 2.1.2 (Win7 SP1, 32 bit). Clicking "Universal Plug 'n Play" crashes VLC.

Similar results here with 2.0.5 on Win7Pro x64. Using VLC to watch programs from our 2 MythTV servers (LinHES R7.3).

For 1-2 years this was the behavior: On first launch and exactly 50 seconds after clicking on Universal Plug'n'Play in Playlist, VLC would crash -- the player and Playlist windows would grey out with no menu access, but I could close with the [x]. After restarting, clearing the crash alert, and clicking UPnP, it might crash -- again at 50 seconds -- but usually on the 2nd or 3rd try it would stay up and I could watch programs. Sometimes only one or the other MythTV server would appear in the list.

Now, with no changes in the VLC installation, after clicking on UPnP it crashes every time, but after 1:15 to 1:45 minutes. Only Windows updates and very little other software installed before the change in behavior.

Some time ago I tried installing a later VLC version on another PC and, as I recall, didn't see the servers at all.

Unfortunately UPnP is still not working for me in VLC 2.1.3 (Win7 SP1, both under 32 and 64 bit versions). Clicking "Universal Plug 'n Play" crashes VLC.
While previous installs (2.1.0 - 2.1.2) automatically opened the crash report option, this does not happen after (repeated) crashes in 2.1.3 after clicking UPnP.

I have two machine where upnp works on 2.1.2 and two where it does not. Quite by accident I found that the machines where it does not work are ok if I deinstall blackberry desktop / blackberry link software. Without this software it detect my Panasonic DLNA recorder, as soon as I reinstall blackberry link software it will no longer detect it.

Still crashing for me too, i reset all the settings and updated to latest nightly. Left item (Universal Plug'n'Play) first click seems to be ok, although list on the right shows no reaction/results. Second time click on Universal PlugnPlay for me crashes VLC.

I uninstalled 2.1.3 and installed the 2.2.0-git-20140222-0128 Weatherwax version from the "nightlies" link listed above and it works on my Win7 32-bit.
I checked VLC on my Win7 64-bit and it works with version 2.1.2 Rincewind; It prompts for the upgrade to 2.1.3 but I declined intending to wait since it is working.
I'm using VLC as a frontend to MythTV therefore I really need UPnP working.

Same for me.

I went all the way back to Ver 2.0.8 to make sure. The Media Servers on my network came up immediately.

Is this being fixed?
