Hey guys, this is my first post so really sorry if i'm on the wrong section
I'm trying to play .ogm files but it doesn't show the videos at all. Yet, the audios are playing just fine.
I'm pretty sure the files are not corrupt since I tried all 13 files and everything is exactly the same, only the audios are playing.
I'm running Windows 7 and my VLC version is VLC media player 2.0.8 Twoflower
These are the error messages from Tools -> Messages when I'm thrying to play these files

avcodec warning: cannot decode one frame (7 bytes)
avcodec warning: cannot decode one frame (2231 bytes)
avcodec warning: cannot decode one frame (200 bytes)

avcodec warning: cannot decode one frame (998 bytes)

And goes on and on and on.

Any help would be greatly appreciated guys

Please open Tools -> Messages (set Verbosity to 2) before you start the playback, and then paste the full resulting log here or on Pastebin.com if it's too long.

Also upload a short sample of a problematic file to either http://streams.videolan.org/upload/ or to EmbedUpload.com, the latter will upload the file for you to several other hosts and then post the link to the file here.

If needed cut it with DGsplit and read here about how to do it:
viewtopic.php?f=14&t=57724&p=193335#p193335
50 MB max should be enough.

Same problem here!

You have here a pastebin of Messages in debug mode of what happens when opening a valid ogm file which was playing perfectly on previous versions of VLC Player:

http://pastebin.com/4mdaXigf

I tried also with other unrelated ogm files and I got the same problem... Audio works but video doesn't...

Greetings,
L

Force codec thread to 1.
How can I do that? Thanks

My problem: VLC verbosity 2 messages from ~30 sec of ogm file playing - Pastebin.com

How to force codec thread 1:

Tools > Preferences:
Under 'Show Settings', switch the radio toggle to 'All'
Input / Codecs > Video codecs > FFmpeg
In the right-hand column, find 'Threads' and change the number in the field to '1'.

Having this problem presently on Win 7 Professional. When I open the .ogm file, it says:

"No suitable decoder module:
VLC does not support the audio or video format "VP70". Unfortunately there is no way for you to fix this."

But it does play the audio.

First I tried the On2 Vp7 codec, but that didn't help. When I found this thread in the forums I did the FFmpeg adjustment in prefs as gersekf described, and that didn't work either. So then I DL'ed K-Lite codec pack, but was disappointed to see that it's not helping it play in VLC, though it works fine in Media Player Classic.

I think this is the one and only time that I've ever acquired (much less tried to play) an .ogm file, and VLC, in the years I've been using it, has never let me down but this one time, so I'm not terribly upset. Just thought I'd let you guys know, though I'm game to help to help VLC fix it, if there's any suggestions?

Thanks for all you do!
