Hello,I have done a search to find how to switch language and it is often mentioned that it is in the settings>preference>interface tab but I have done that in vlc 2.1 and still cannot find that setting.
Can anyone please help me ?
Thank you.
Here is a picture of the interface tab.

The language settings are in the Windows control panel, not in VLC.

I have to change the language of the whole operating system just to get another language on vlc ui? Wasnt there a separate setting in previous version of vlc that allowed that, instead of changing the operating system language?
I mean its not really flexible if someone want to use vlc in a certain language but other people dont want that os in that language as well. Most programs offer a separate language setting.

At least there is a workaround. I prefer pure English language in VLC, so I can just delete or rename "locale" folder containing all languages in VLC directory. If you need to switch from actual language to some different non-English one, then try to move/copy appropriate file (vlc.mo) into actual language folder or just rename a desired language folder to actual language folder in "locale" directory. What is your actual language localization in VLC and which one would you like to have there?

Thank you very much, that workaround fixed the problem. Still I don't understand why they wouldn't have that setting in the program if all the files are already there.

My localized translation (Norwegian) of VLC is horrible and unintuitive.
The translation should be optional and easily removable, as it lowers the overall quality and usability of the player considerably.

(edit: I just found the Menu language switch in the interface section. Problem solved!)

Yes a language switch has been added in later update so this topic is obsolete now.

VLC 2.1.1 still doesn't have the option to change interface language!
Also, when updated VLC it lost the preseted language.
Tks

I don't know what happened, but I just renamed the folder locale to locale.old, and the option to change language appeared!
Sorry for the "wrong" complain.

2.1.1 allows to change language.

And exactly where did you hide the menu-option to change interface-language ?
Deleting files, folders and what not is not an acceptable solution, is it ?

The Danish interface is just as horrible as the Norwegian ..
It calls 'Streaming' for 'Strøm' = ELECTRICITY !
(Sorry, I can't be bothered to write a proper translation, I never use Danish-language interface anyway because
it's not only VLC's translations that suck :) )
The language settings are in the Windows control panel, not in VLC.
Vely funny ..

It s in the same tab as the screenshot I made in the first post, they have added the option on top of it, for some reason the option doesnt show up in the advanced setting view, you have to use the simple setting view to have the option show up.
