RSS Feed Issue

Hi guys,

I am trying to setup an RSS feed to scroll across a video, however after setting up the settings to point to an rss feed (http://rss.news.yahoo.com/rss/topstories - although it doesn't work with anything!) it displays a black rectangle where the feed should be.... I can't get this to work at all, and there is nothing on google/here that helps.

Here is an example (I have marked the black box with red):

Here are my settings:

The black box doesn't do anything, it just stays there for the full length of the video.

Please help, I'm slowly going insane!

Thanks,

Hi,

For me same the same problem pops-up.

I have spent much time tring various options/combinatino, but without any results. silly thing is: RSS feed is frequently refreshed, only no text is displayed.
feeds inluded with a picture: picture stand nicely at front of the bar. some thing is going on there :)

Seem all options working.. the window can be put on every spot on the screen, rss-ttl can be changed.
( I tried with: http://www.ad.nl/rss.xml )

command (on Debian): vlc <file.mpg> --sub-source=rss --rss-urls="http://www.ad.nl/rss.xml"

accoording to the wiki, this should be the simple way to get it.

version info:
edwin@desktop4:~$ vlc --version
VLC media player 2.0.3 Twoflower (revision 2.0.2-93-g77aa89e)
VLC version 2.0.3 Twoflower (2.0.2-93-g77aa89e)
Compiled by siretart on sandy (Aug 12 2012 08:05:41)
Compiler: gcc version 4.4.5 (Debian 4.4.5-8)

Updating on another system (Debian -sid) does not make any changes.

On VLC version 32bit / 1.1x it is all working OK.

- Is there some thing changed on the syntax to have a RSS-feed displayed ??

Looking forward to some working examples, please.
