Running multiple sessions of VLC

Postby wul62 » 29 May 2013 15:43

Sometimes I wish to compare a number of YouTube video tutorials, that might have been downloaded twice (slightly different names and extensions).
Right now I have to open one, close it and open the other.
Would it be possible to run two sessions of VLC ?

Thanks

Just open VLC twice manually...

Ok, thanks. I was using the context menu. Maybe an option? When launched twice from the context menu: pop up - allow 2nd session?
Or in preferences, multiple sessions from context menu, or something.
Anyway, thanks again.

In Tools -> Preferences (Show settings = All) -> Advanced
There are two options:

Allow only one running instance
One instance when started from file

Make sure both options are unticked, save the preferences then exit and restart VLC.

Many thanks indeed !!

That is the solution. This is handy when (bulk)downloading a number of files about the same subject.
Often they have more or less the same name, slightly different file size, different extension, but are roughly the same.
This way it is easy to compare and delete either one of them.

Anyway, thanks again!
