This behavior applies equally to 32 bit 2.0.5 and 2.0.6 running under Windows 8 (64 bit).
Windows XP SP3 (32 bit) and Windows 7 SP1 (64 bit) do NOT show this behavior.
All fonts mentioned below are as supplied with Windows 8 Pro (64 bit) by Microsoft; none were imported or modified.
Source file type does not appear to matter - any subtitles and marquee will display this behavior.

Running under Windows 8 (64 bit), subtitles and marquee display as follows:

Ariel is displayed in italics
Times New Roman is displayed in italics
Courier New is displayed in italics
Georgia is displayed in italics

Ariel Black displays normally (i.e., regular, not italics).
Microsoft Sans Serif displays normally.
Segoe UI displays normally
Impact displays normally
Lucida Sans Unicode displays normally

Tahoma displays regular (not italic) but appears to be bold or black in weight.
Trebuchet MS displays regular but is somwhat bold in weight

And that's about all I have time to test.

I'm no expert in fonts, but it appears that in Windows 8, MS has changed something about fonts that does not apply to all fonts.

Yes, we've seen that.
No idea why...
