I finally managed to compile VLC in windows 2000 using cygwin environment. When I run the VLC player and try to play any file it just crashes. Any idea why this happens ?

I am using

Contrib-20041113-win32-bin-gcc3.3.1-only-tar-bz2 and
source code of vlc is the latest from SVN.

The gcc compiler version is 3.3.3 (cygwin Special).

Kindly let me know how should i fix this up.

Thanx

run it with high --verbose and check the error messages.

did you end up disabling ffmpeg?

Zcot,

You are right. I had disabled ffmpeg during compilation. I enabled and compiled it and it is working. Thanx a lot.

I just need one more help I wanted to use only the video window in another application. I don't need any of the menus and other stuffs which modules do i have to compile and use it.

Kindly let me know.

Thanx once again,

Kala

I can't offer as much info as the developers can..

but, You could use the activeX module to play the videos. embed a control as your video container..

vlc-trunk/activex/

maybe use the mozilla plugin?

that's the easy routes..
