Sound choppy after update from 2.0.4 to 2.0.5

Hi,
Yesterday I updated to 2.0.5 version. When I was playing back an MKV file I discovered that the sound was choppy, ie. cutting off every 5 seconds or so. When I looked at the message logs I get a lot of "audio output out of sync" errors. I googled this problem and saw that many have had similar problems with upgrade from version 1 to version 2 with VLC, especially when they (like me) were running with an ASUS motherboard.
I tried the suggestions in those treads:
* Disabling the ASUS EPU - No change
* Un-installing and reinstalling VLC with settings and cache cleared - No change
* Tried different audio outputs - No change
* Upgrading to VLC 2.1 nightlys - No change
* Installing the 64-bit experimental build (2.0.5) - No change
Finally I downgraded to VLC 2.0.4 (with settings and cache cleared) and the stuttering disappeared.
Is this a known problem? Or should I file a bug report?
Best regards
