LAG issue with FFW using manual handle.

Postby Kunanuk » 24 Jan 2013 12:53

Hello!

This is the issue:

Just playing a movie, I want to go to a specific timelime/frame. So, moving the handle or just pointing at it, the movie freezes and can take about 10-20 seconds to continue playing from the selected frame.

Well, this happens with some 1080p MKV files, and I believe isn't about damaged files, bacause all them play perfect on DAplayer, i mean, the time handle tool works 100% smoothly.

Please tell me how to fix it, thanks!

Yeah this is due to a bad handling of new elements by VLC. Get a nightly build from http://nightlies.videolan.org/ to fix that.

Edit: You can also keep your current vlc version if you go in Tools->Preferences->show settings = all then Demuxers->Matroska, click use dummy elements save and restart VLC.

If you do that remember to uncheck it when vlc 2.0.6 is out. It is safer when dealing with broken files.
