This is from another thread this week:

0.9.6 is way too old and dangerous!

Okay, I installed 2.0.5 today and it is not usable for playing DVDs on Win7-64. It will play them, but the quality is not acceptable.

1. The video playback is still not smooth. It was smooth in 0.9.6. You did something that degrades the playback starting with 1.x.
2. There is now an audio dropout every couple of seconds. I tried wav and directx.

It's not a system problem, it's in vlc.

I'm having the same problem in 2.0.5 - tried a de/re-installation and it did seem to ease the problem for a minute or so but the problem is back.

Windows: Windows 7 Ultimate Edition (64-bit) Service Pack 1 (Build 7601)
Internet Explorer: 9.0.8112.16421
Memory (RAM): 8151 MB
CPU Info: Intel(R) Core(TM) i3-2100 CPU @ 3.10GHz
CPU Speed: 3089.6 MHz

Display Adapters: NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GTS | NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GTS | RDPDD Chained DD | RDP Encoder Mirror Driver | RDP Reflector Display Driver

Any help would be appreciated.
