Can you Remote Control VLC using SSH ?

Postby Mel_3 » 19 Jan 2013 00:09

I've got freeSSHd server running on the PC1 with VLC running in Remote Control mode and listening on Port 26.

I can get the Remote Control interface on PC2 if I telnet to port 26...

But if I try to get the Remote Control Interface on PC 2 by using SSH on port 26 it doesn't work.

Is there any way to Remote Control VLC using an SSH connection instead of telnet ?

Thanks for any help.

If you have SSH, you can simply run VLC remotely through the secure shell. There are no plans to implement SSH in VLC directly; it would be overkill.
