Streaming playlist files - Nonworking

Postby MK1234Tfan » 25 Dec 2012 04:38

I had recently tried to stream music as well as movies and am having problems. First of all I want to say that I had the stable build and was trying to stream a song and VLC would crash as soon as it would start to play. I now have the latest nightly build and that problem is fixed. Now my only problem is streaming music playlist files. I have only tested with m3u files but I feel the problem will be the same with pls etc.

My settings are as follows. I have created a playlist and saved it as Example.m3u. I made the playlist straight from VLC.
I click Media>Stream... in VLC. I then click Add and select my playlist file. I click stream and then Next. I click the drop down menu and select HTTP and click Add. I have tried on port 8080 and have the same results with any port. But as I use that port for some other services I decided to change it to 1112 which works with movies etc. I have tried leaving the path default as well as adding a path of my own ex. /Stream. I go to Profile drop down menu and select Audio - MP3 although I have tried all of the others. I then click Next and tick the box that says Stream all elementary streams and click Stream. This method works with movies as well as a single music file and Says streaming in the title bar as well as the song or movie. But when I try it with a playlist file it plays through the playlist and doesn't say streaming and the server isn't running as I have tried connecting with VLC and a browser. This has to be a bug.

Thanks,

same problem, I can only stream one single file. if i select a playlist .m3u, VLC just plays locally and doesn't listen on the selected port.
I haven't found a way to play more than one at a time :(
