Hi there for a long time ever since two-flower i think VLC dont handle samples.avi well anymore.

I have tested newest nighties and official version 2.0.4 the issue remains.

Those sample files plays well in other players.

Trying to extract it gives this: Conclusion: this is a broken RAR file, not a VLC problem.

It's not an AVI but a RAR file containing an ISO image with MPEG-2 video, AC-3 audio and RLE subs.
FFplay is playing it.

You should just extract the ISO from the RAR file.

Please We all know that WMP aint that advanced and it play's it well, this has always worked before with VLC. Try out vlc-1.1.11-win32 it works flawless in that... I think twoflower had something left out that supported those sample avi that comes with the files.

No its no a wrong file.. Check out old versions of VLC player 1.1.11 it works fine also WMP plays it with default codecs in windows 7 !.

Well its not since its only asking for other directions as you can see if you open it in fx. winrar... All the files are made that way, and since its working in 1.1 then i cannot see how its broken it was a feature in VLC before two but is now gone/left out/forgotten???

Those files are provided to thousands of users and we all have those problems with twoflower.

Since when did vlc turn into, just do more complicated work so vlc can play it. No thanks ill look for other alternatives to vlc that actually can play all my files without doing crazy amount of work first

I dont see why the feature from 1.1 cannot be implemented? Can you tell me why, copy paste the code and make it fit with twoflower and profit ?

Would you mind trying to play the same file in vlc 1.xx ?
