3D Playback with VLC

I finally figured out how to play Blu-ray discs with VLC but I still can't get 3d discs to play in 3d mode (they play in 2D).
I downloaded Cyberlink's BD & 3D adviser program

http://www.cyberlink.com/prog/bd-support/diagnosis.do

and it indicates that all my hardware is 3d compatible but the software is not. Of course, they want to sell me an $80 program to fix this situation. Is there a VLC fix for this? I have gone through the menus but cannot find anything that would seem relevant. I found online wikis about using the "wall" setting to get multiple windows and selecting one. THis seems written for an earlier version as the menu nav is different in mine and it does not seem to work.

BTW, I have a Sharp Aquos TV, HDMI 1.4 cables, An LG 3d BR drive and Radeon HD 6570 chipset in the video card.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the reply. That is strange because I thought I read somewhere that the latest version did do 3D disks (maybe only 2D playback?) and the tech support at LG specifically recommended it. Do you guys have plans to add this soon? Or do you know of any free players that can do this? For not much more than $80 I can buy a player which will provide redundancy :)

Well, VLC can play some BD3D in 2D. This is planned, though :)

It's great to hear. Is BD3D planned for 2.1?
