Can't play cook codec files in mkv

I can't play cook codec files in mkv containers, vlc shows No suitable decoder module: VLC does not support the audio or video format "cook", but I can play them when I extract them out. Any chance to fix this?

Please open Tools -> Messages (set Verbosity to 2) before you start the playback and then paste the full resulting log here or on Pastebin.com if it's too long.

Also upload a short sample of a problematic file to either http://streams.videolan.org/upload/ or to MirrorCreator.com or to EmbedUpload.com, so it will upload the file for you to several other hosts, and then post the link to the file here.

Try vlc-2.1.0-* on Nightly Build of VLC.

Recently this issue was fixed on the trunk.
ticket 3410
git commit 59e5b9a5dc4a6d666c3ea008f5a348da7a41d7db
And this fix doesn't apply to vlc-2.0 branch, at this moment.

If you don't want to use nightlies, there is a workaround.
Tools -> Preferences -> All -> Input/Codecs -> Demuxers
Change Demux module from "Default" to "Avformat demuxer".
