By default, when using the record button, VLC records the whole transport stream with all of the channels of the current transponder. You can then select the program you want to playback through the menu Playback -> Program or use --program=x from the command line where the value is the Service PID, aka SID, of the channel.

If you want to record only the current program then you need to use either the "--no-input-record-native" parameter or go to Tools -> Preferences (Show seetings = All) -> Input/Codecs then on the right panel scroll down to Advanced -> Prefer native stream recording and untick this option, then save, exit and restart VLC.

thanks a lot mate!
it's working :-)

now i see that the recorded files are not in the 'My Documents' folder(as it was before), but the video i record is in 'my videos' folder, and if i record music channel, it's saved in the 'My Music' folder.
where can i change the folder VLC saves the files?

more questions:
if i record the whole channels at once(the default behavior of VLC), can i seperate them later, easily, to a different files(each channel to one file of it's own)?

can i record for example 3 channels at once(not the whole channels i have) and in the same time, VLC will make 3 different files for each channel ?
if i can't save to a seperate file, each channel, how can i tell vlc i want it to record just those three channels? (no matter how it saves it :-))

the SID(or PID) is the name of the channel in the Playback -> Program, menu?

thanks again for your help! :-)

Yes you can, but not easily :)

No, you can record the whole transport stream with all channels or only one program.

VLC will record the channel you are watching at if you use the "--no-input-record-native" parameter or if you disable the "Prefer native stream recording" option as explained before.

can you give me a hint?
maybe a link or a program that can do that?

this i understood before(in your previous answer to me :-)).
i just want to know if the name i see in the menu in VLC - Playback -> Program, is the PID?

also, can i record channel which i don't watch?
or, if i record the channel i watch, and then switch to another channel, will the recording will "follow" me to my watching channel, or it will continue recording the same channel i have started to record?

thank you for your great help!

It should. Check the logs to be sure about that.
also, can i record channel which i don't watch?
Not with the record button.
if i record the channel i watch, and then switch to another channel, will the recording will "follow" me to my watching channel, or it will continue recording the same channel i have started to record?
Just try it yourself ? :)
