Need to turn off caching in vlc player

Postby ramsiva » 07 Jul 2012 21:22

Hello
I am using VLC player windows version. The version I am using is pretty old .8.6i janus. I am playing many short clips (3-4 sec video) continuously loaded in the playlist. Whenever vlc finishes playing one clip and moves to other clip, there is this hiccup. frame freezes for a few hundred milliseconds and then plays the next video. I am thinking it is because vlc caches a few frames of the new video being loaded and then once caching done it plays the video. I understand the reason for caching but I need to prevent the hiccup. Since these clips are short clips, hiccups are little annoying. Is it possible to turn off or minimize the caching in the player? I am bound to use only this version, because looks like latter versions of vlc have some memory leaks when run in windows xp and so it hangs the system when vlc played continuously for a day or two. The videos are 720p. Any help appreciated.
