Where do I find the log?

Postby lisaby » 06 Jul 2012 15:05

I'm new to the VideoLAN forums. I posted the question below on the "General Troubleshooting" forum and received the (non) reply:

"Privately sent support requests will be systematically discarded."

My request appears to me similar to other requests which received an answer. I don't understand the reply. Since I use Windows, I'm posting it again, this time on this forum.

I now use VideoLAN 2.0.2 with Windows 7. Before re-installing Windows, I used 2.0.0. Since re-installing Windows and upgrading to 2.0.2, I can no longer capture streaming audio (http://www.1.fm/TuneIn/SC/opera32k/Listen.aspx & http://stream2139.init7.net/listen.pls).

I receive the error message:

"Your input can't be opened:
VLC is unable to open the MRL 'http://www.1.fm/TuneIn/SC/opera32k/Listen.aspx'. Check the log for details."

I don't know how to access the log.

Could someone please explain to me how to access the log?

Thanks,

Basil

Hello,

you should be able to find the log in - C:\Program Files\VideoLAN\VLCif you're on windows

I had a similar glitch after updating to 2.0.2 this morning and have since reinstalled 2.0.1

Thanks Dave Inmanc for your help.

In fact, I never found the log and v.2.0.1 didn't work for me.

Thanks to your suggestion, I kept going backward until I found a version that worked. It was vlc-1.1.9-win32 that finally did the trick.

Hi
The links you need to play those two stations are now:-

Code: Select all

http://tai-03.egihosting.com/oopera-32k-aac
and

Code: Select all

http://stream2139.init7.net:80/
Then VLC > Media > Open location from clipboard.

If you ever need to create a log...
VLC > Tools > Messages > Verbosity 2 > Close
Then afterwards look in Messages again to read/copy it.
:)

Thanks bat999 for the explanations.

With the links you provided, I'm now able to capture the streams with v. 2.0.2.

Could you let me know where you found these new links? The only ones I knew to find were those contained on the Properties pop-ups for the two stations.

Hi
'Save' the two playlists
http://www.1.fm/TuneIn/SC/opera32k/Listen.aspx
and
http://stream2139.init7.net/listen.pls

Then inspect them with a text editor.
[playlist]
numberofentries=1
File1=http://tai-03.egihosting.com/oopera-32k-aac
Title1=1.FM - Opera
Length1=-1
Version=2
[playlist]
NumberOfEntries=1
File1=http://stream2139.init7.net:80/
:D
