vlc compilation on cygwin in windows, help needed

Hello,
I am new to vlc development.
My overall aim is to be able work on the interface.
I am trying to compile VLC in windows using cygwin. I am experiencing missing library errors. The latest error is for library CACA. I'm unable to figure out how should i proceed further as it is not present in cygwin setup.
Please help me out.

As for this issue, you can disable caca library by changing configure line (adding --disable-caca).

Anyway, native compilation with Cygwin is not recommended and it's too obsolete method.

I recommend Cross-compile with Mingw on Linux or other POSIX systems.

Cygwin is not to be encouraged.
