Greeting all.
I am having trouble playing an mkv file that is 1920X1072. The video frame freezes for a minute but the audio goes on ok.
Jet Audio plays it but I would like to use your player. Using windows XP sp3
Thanks.

Are you running the latest drivers?
Is your CPU fast enough?

Umm... AMD Athlon CPU 2.2GHz 4Gb Ram It should be fast enough, huh?
I have an older version of the Jet Audio player that plays the file fine. I would like to use your player since I am used to the operation and features of it. (2 thumbs up!) I use VLC on many other mkv files of slightly smaller formats,no prob.
Thanks,

I see there were no definitive answers to your question. I ran into a similar problem on 1920x1080 vids, after upgrading my GPU drivers. Suddenly VLC 2 wouldn't play them. It would open them, display a frame, stall on that frame while seeker button advanced. If I clicked on another point on the seek bar, it would display that frame & so on.
MPC-HC played the vids OK. In my case, I realized it must be connected to me upgrading graphics drivers - but no idea which setting(s) was involved.
Stumbled on Video Settings > Output, & saw it was "Default." I don't know what it ever was before because never had to look. Remembered reading the Nvidia drivers use (I thought ???) Open GL. Just playing w/ settings, changed the selection in VLC video settings output to OpenGL & the 1920x1080 vids (several diff formats) started playing fine.
There may be OTHER output settings I could've chosen that would also work, but on my box, "Default" didn't work.
So, if you've upgraded graphics drivers (or maybe need to), VLC may / may not choose the right video output setting for high res vids.

Hey Chrisi, Thanks so much for your info. Your symptoms sound just like mine.
I am going down the track you suggested. Will pm you if I have success.

use GPU decoding.
