Jittery sound after pc restart

Well, I have a very weird situation here.

Since I booted up my pc this morning, I have nothing but jittery sound from VLC. Even the albums that played fine yesterday have this problem...
When I play these albums with windows media player they play just fine.
The only thing I changed yesterday was upgrading my graphicsdriver to catalyst 12.4 but I can't imagine why that would have anything to do with it...

Does anyone have an idea about how I can solve this? I already tried rebooting my pc but that didn't work :(

Best regards,
Marcoevich

Yeah sure. But where can I find it? It is not available through the VLC updater or on your website...

Ok, after searching a bit I found this link: http://nightlies.videolan.org/build/win ... 0522-0206/

That build didnt't work.

BUT, I tried the highly unstable 2.1.0 nightly from here: http://nightlies.videolan.org/build/win ... 0607-0003/ and that one works :)

So somewhere between those builds you must have changed something that solved the problem...

I hope there will be a stable version of VLC 2.1.0 soon. Do you have an eta for when it will be released? :)

Thx!

Marcoevich

Edit:

I have done some research for you. I have tested some nightly builds to find out where the problem was solved, so you can have a better look at what caused it. Here are the versions that contain the difference. I added some relevant debugger information to each version.

vlc-2.1.0-20120516-0006/ 16-May-2012 01:00 - works!!

main debug: Decoder buffering done in 8 ms

Can you try latest 2.0.2 please?

Latest 2.0.2 ( vlc-2.0.2-20120606-0237/ 06-Jun-2012 02:47 - ) does contain the problem, although a little bit less noticable.

I have installed 2.0.2 and the 2.1.0 that worked 3 times. But the 2.1.0 is clearly better.

Here the debug output for the latest 2.0.2:

vlc-2.0.2 - doesn't work!

main debug: Decoder buffering done in 13 ms
main warning: PTS is out of range (-9984), dropping buffer
main warning: PTS is out of range (-36081), dropping buffer
mpgatofixed32 debug: libmad error: bad main_data_begin pointer
main warning: audio output out of sync, adjusting dates (61420 us)
main warning: not synchronized (61423 us), resampling
main warning: buffer too late (60969), up-sampling
main warning: resampling stopped after 11937875 usec (drift: 710)
