can't show subtitle

when i play a video with idx and sub, vlc doesn't show the subtitle.

do the idx and sub file are not correctly/compatible with vlc?

Please open Tools -> Messages (set Verbosity to 2) before you start the playback and then paste the full resulting log here or on
Pastebin.com if it's too long.
