Hi,
I opened the video on my Windows 7 laptop and it played fine. I am also using VLC 2.0.1 Twoflower so I wonder if its Vista issue, does the video play okay when you watch it on YouTube? Sorry I know it’s not much help maybe one of the experts on here will be able to help.
Just a thought try downloading it with VLC and see if it will download and play, just remember to download as webm. One other thing try closing VLC and open it again and then try again, VLC tends to get confused when doing two things straight after each other.

The video can play when clicked on Youtube site. Tried closing VLC and opening it and did that many times. Same problem.
More details of my issue:
1. My internet connection is wireless (wifi) and is 11Mbps broadband. Perhaps VLC expects a faster bandwidth?
2. There was one time and only one time that the video managed to play. After that, all videos I tried cannot play on VLC
3. I cleared my Google chrome browser cache, thinking it may be the problem, but no, the problem is still there
Any assistance is most appreciated. Thanks!

My internet connection is wireless too and is 60MB broadband so not sure if it’s a bandwidth issue, I think 11Mbps is more than adequate. I would think if it plays from YouTube without any problems VLC will be okay with it too, but I’m no expert.
Did you try downloading it with VLC?
I have Avast anti-virus as well so I don’t think that is the problem, have you installed any new software? I had the same message last week when I first used VLC to view/download YouTube videos but I don’t remember doing anything to sort it, I can’t remember making any changes to the VLC options, I will have a look and see if I did, have you made any changes to your options?
Sorry I know this is not very helpful so let’s hope you get a response soon.

How do I download the video using VLC? Is it using the command Convert/Save? And then choose extension .webm?
I tried doing that and is not able to save the video.
Any assistance will be most appreciated.

Yes go to menu option Media->convert/save and in the Network tab where it says “please add network URL" enter the URL and click the convert/save button at the bottom, use the browse button to go to where you want it saved, remember to give the video a name in the file name box and add .webm on the end of the name. choose webm from the dropdown box and press the “edit selected profile” button and choose webm and click save, then click start.
Let me know what happens.

Tried the steps, but cannot download.
Is there any way to change the lua file for 2.0.1 version?
This is frustrating. Is it my ISP that is blocking? But if so, why am I able to play the Youtube videos from the Google Chrome and Firefox browser?
Any help will be most appreciated.

Maybe try uninstalling VLC and reinstalling it and see if it helps.

Done the re-installation. Still no joy.
Do you think it has to do with my router blocking streaming through applications but allowing streaming through internet browsers? I'm not sure what is happening and is waiting to hear if there're some who are facing the same issue as me.
Pretty frustrating when you don't know what is the problem.

It might be worth phoning your ISP so you can confirm if it’s them or not, if it’s not them maybe it’s a Vista issue. I found this not sure if it will help

Hi TigerRag,
Tried the "howtogeek" suggestions, but no joy. Tried all choices prescribed.
HOWEVER, many thanks to you pointing me to the options available, I changed two options under Inputs and Codecs.
1. Default Caching Policy
2. Live555 Stream Transport
As shown in the pic, and it works!!
PS: However, from my experimentation, I need to close VLC after playing 1 video, then open it to play another video. If I put it into a Playlist to play 2 videos one after another, it does not work. Of course if a playlist works, then I would be exhilarated, but of course. LOL.
But this is all I need right now. Playing 1 video at a time. At least it works and thanks for pointing me to the right direction.
As an aside, what else do you use VLC for? I noticed it has alot of commands and features, is there a user manual? Just asking.
THANKS DUDE!!!

Hi dude TigerRag,
Unfortunately, it's back to the drawing board, as VLC shows the same error, even after closing and opening and closing and opening the player.
The video just will not play.

This is so strange worked one time and then stopped again, did you check your changes were saved? I had a look at my preferences and can’t see any changes.
To play more than one video just put them all in one folder and choose Media->Open folder.
To be honest until last week I only ever used VLC to play music and videos I already have. So I am still trying to learn all the commands and features at the moment.

Thank TigerRag,
Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.
BTW, may I ask how you increase the volume to 400%? On the volume scale, I can only increase it to 200% max.
Thanks dude!!

I think 200% is the max you could increase your system sound, VLC will still show 200% but the sound will be louder.

Alright thanks, I'm now googling to find if there's another media player out there that can increase the sound volume beyond the system sound volume and also can play YT videos directly off its url.

Thanks dude,
I'll investigate and try this Daum Potplayer for sure.
Hope it has the features I'm looking for, looks promising at first glance.

Tried Daum Potplayer...
It does not play Youtube urls directly, which is what I'm needing, besides the volume increase, which is a strong feature of VLC.
Oh well...

It looks like VLC 2.0.1 Twoflower cannot play YouTube live videos (for example:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Nz2F2cJNQQ). Usual YouTube videos (not live) are played fine.

You should file a bug request on that.
