Is your machine fast enough to play HD?

Vlc 119 n 201 plays some of the x264's but they r choppy, hesitating then playing a few seconds at best. 2.0 will not ply them at all. When u start it with 2.0 player shows a frozen frame that is a fractured collage of scenes from the last few shows played.
I read sumwhere that a new type of x264 was put out by intel, I believe, n was causing problems with sum decoders or sum.
I tried disabling n enabling video overlay & gpu - no luck.

I looked for info about this a couple months n thought it said Videolan crew were including a fix in the next release. Is this at all accurate n also how long until the new release. I had hoped for 2.02 on May 1st but that obviously didn't happen.
I would like to suggest that u put an easy to find link to the nightlies(think that what they're called).

Also, sum1 asked a previous poster if they're machine is fast enough to play x264. Well that depends on what the requirements are. Never had a prob with h264 or any other x264's. Just the new ones that say 1080. N my tv is 1080p.

Thanks, Adam

I have had the same problem with certain mp4's being choppy for weeks, until now. (media player played the files fine)
I tried all the settings on VLC, but none made any difference. I had to change my video card settings to refresh at 60Hz and the problem went away. Mine was set at 40Hz, probably for power savings on laptop.
