VLC Stream + Pocket PC (WM5)

Postby PaHa » 01 Jan 2007 15:01

Cheers!

I've got a problem... I use VLC to create HTTP stream which I can watch inside of LAN and also from outside. This works well when I am using VLC client at both sides even if different kind of encapsulatios and codecs...

Howeve I would like to watch this stream with Pocket pc also (WM5 Ipaq 6915) but I cannot get it work even I try every way...

I am not able to find right combinations so I could that worked. I have tried with tcpmp and core player but bot of them are not connecting, also Windows media player for pocket pc don't work.

Actually only sw which works somehow is PocketTV but there is a problem... PocketTC can watch only MPEG-1 stream with mp1v codec and for some reason VLC cannot send that stream :(

I got error code:

stream_out_transcode debug: decoder aspect is 576000:432000
stream_out_transcode debug: source pixel aspect is 1.000000:1
stream_out_transcode debug: scaled pixel aspect is 1.000000:1
stream_out_transcode debug: source 640x480, crop 640x480, destination 640x480, padding 640x480
stream_out_transcode debug: encoder aspect is 576000:432000
main debug: looking for encoder module: 10 candidates
ffmpeg debug: libavcodec already initialized
ffmpeg warning: MPEG1/2 does not support 10/1 fps
(mpeg1video@00B21740)
ffmpeg error: cannot open encoder
stream_out_transcode error: cannot find encoder ((null))

So:

- what settings I need so I get that MPEG-1 stream w video code mp1v to work? or

- what settings and some other PPC sw it would be work?

Well, I haven't tried streaming to a PPC, but I did successfully stream to Windows Media player running on a Windows CE device. In the PPC windows media player, is there a way to open a URL like in the XP version?

I have successfully managed watch stream to windows media player in Vista & XP but not the PPC (WM5).

And yes... there is a place that you can put url address to pocket media player...

Sound like you've tried this already, but just in case...

Are you using MMS to stream to PPC compared to http? I want to know if you manage to get this to work for future projects.

I have not had a PPC for a while, but it "might" work using ASF encapulation streaming WMV1/2. Then in the open Open URL Dialog: MMS:\\IP:Port
