VLC media player and windows 98se

Postby fishy993 » 15 Dec 2006 01:12

Hi guys,I have successfully installed vlc player with the help of the extra 'unicows' files provided by microsoft. However,on playing an MP4 (mov.) file,I'm getting a totally black screen...even though the audio is absolutely fine.Whilst the file is running,I clicked on 'view' and then 'messages',and it says that frames are being dropped....then a message in red saying 'computer too slow?'.My comp is indeed quite outdated...500mhz processor and 256ram,and windows 98se operating system.Having said that,I've had no trouble with windows media player playing mpegs etc.Any ideas? This is really frustrating :(

Thank you, Fishy

If the files are H.264 (QT) MOV or MP4 files in 480p - 1080p your machine is to slow to play them. If the MP4 files are Sorenson or 3ivx your system should play them.
