associating files toVLC

I hope this belongs here, its for winxp.........
I have VLC portable on a USB, ....what I would like is to associate the files on the USB to VLC thats on the same USB, so as I bring it from computer to computer, I don't have to keep reassociating the media.

Associations are done during the install of the program.
