Is it possible to switch channel with videolan?

Postby yalag » 23 Nov 2006 22:44

Hi, I would like to setup one computer to capture video from my cable service, and then stream those signals to few computers around the house. I think that videolan is capable of this task. However, I am wondering if it is possible to switch channel from those remote computers?

-Thanks

TV channel switching

There was also a post here a short time ago to do channel switching remotely and a user had made a program to do it.

Can You Set Default Video Capture Device in VideoLAN?

Postby Grumpa43 » 25 Nov 2006 16:10

Greetings. I use Anurag Sinha's World - RemoteTV to control VideoLAN across my home LAN. There is one glitch. I use the HauppaugeWinTV-PVR-USB2 as a video capture device. I cannot stream the TV video until I first open / close Hauppauge's WinTV application. It is like it must first initialize the USB tuner. Is there a way to "hard code" the Hauppauge in VideoLAN (as default device) so I can eliminate the starting of WinTV? Thanks ...
