Which player I should use?

Postby SimpleSomeone » 30 Aug 2006 14:41

I have been wondering.... which player I should use in windows??

I need a player that can play almost anything (file types, audios, videos, subtitles etc...)
It also needs to run smoothly. (not like real player, sometimes it takes over 5 seconds to open a small file)
It should have good hotkey system (like VLC)
Play unfinished/poorly compiled/damaged files.
Stop the video WHEN I CLICK pause.

++++Extra, not necessarily required++++
Some options for subtitles.
Ability to change file type, audio & video codecs

So, which player I should use? Is VLC the best around or is something else better?

Your asking this question here? :P

This question may be better for a doom9 forum where people are less prejudice. Well maybe! :)

Trying to answer your question directly, the only thing I have run across is MPlayer that kinda sorta comes close. But MPlayer is completely command line driven. You may be able to find GUIs that will perform the functions you need from a third party.
