Reporting a problem (bug?) with VLC media player 0.8.5

Postby Sly » 06 Aug 2006 13:22

I had VLC media player version 0.8.4a before I installed this new version and I had no problem with it.

But now when I play the same movies (avi) in this new version, the subtitle wont show up all the time. During a movie, sometimes it shows up and sometimes it doesn't (it doesn't most of the times).

The subtitle is an SRT file (which worked just fine in the older versions of VCL). Also I have win xp pro.

You should change the encoding on the preferences.

Search this forum since it has been discussed over and over.

Thanks man.
I found a reply from you saying to change the encoding to "Iso-8859-1"!
I tried it and it seems to work.

I don't know why they would change the default in the new version in the first place. It was much easier and better before.

Thanks again.

By the way, this only works when you brows and choose your files in the player. But when I drag and release the video file on the player and use the "K" button to get the subtitle, it wont show up.

I don't know but this whole thing is starting to make me to go back to the old 0.8.4a version!
