Use Windows Environment Variables

Postby cellplex » 19 May 2006 02:45

Hi all, is there a way to have vlc to set the snapshot directory to the current users desktop?

I tried vlc --snapshot-path %homepath%/desktop

But vlc just sets the path to the above line.

Anyway Vlc can read the enironment variable contents ?

Thanks

It's been a long while since the initial post, but I'm reviving it since I have a need to use environment values in paths in VLC too. Is that possible in the latest version? If so, how?

I don't believe VLC recognizes environment variables. You will need to do it the the normal way.

Will VLC support environment variables in future?

Ok. It would be a good feature though. It would allow the settings file to be migrated to another computer even when for example a folder with the current user account in its path is being used for VLC screenshots.
