Occasional pause over wifi, anyway of buffering/streaming?

Postby simonwilliams » 06 Apr 2006 20:20

Wonder if this is possible, I sometimes want to watch a video thats on my main PC in the loft on my media PC which is down in the lounge. The two share a network (XP+SP2) & I just browse the folders on my main machine, choose the file & click. However because of the wifi distance there is the occasional pause/glitch every 10 - 60 seconds depending on what type of file I'm playing.

Is there a way to get video lan to buffer some of the video or to steam the video to prevent these brief glitches or any other work around?
Thanks for any advise.

This has been brought up before when using a wireless interface. Try increasing the cache size (in MS) when setting up the stream. Once you find a value that works for you, it can be set in Preferences.

--http-caching <integer> Caching value in ms
