StillsSearching for a simple solution to remote vlc

Postby romeylo » 12 Feb 2006 21:57

Hi,
i`m still searching for a simple solution to remote the vlc. Is anyone here who has one?
Greetings Roland
PS. I had tested a prog called snapstream beyond tv and beyond tv link. It works but it is to big, has to mutch not used funktions and at least you must buy it for 70$.

I'm not sure I understand your question??

But on the positive side VLC is free and no one here is going to force you to use it.

Oh sorry,
that was not what i mean. I think the vlc is the better prog and i use it with full works! The only think i miss in vlc, is a remote control so that i can switch the tv-programms from my notebook.
The thing with snapstream was an exaple that it is possible to remote a stream. And i think the only reason that no vlc-remote works on my machines is my unknowingness.
Please don`t understand it false. I WANT TO USE VLC ( if it is possible, with remotecontrol )
Greetings Roland

I believe there is a remote interface being worked on, I do not know how actively.

It is doubtful that there will be a MCE interface any time soon.

So all I can suggest is to monitor the Nightly Builds and keep hoping.

Just thought I'd show an interest in any future remote control functionality.

Got MCE remote and would love to be able to get it to work with VLC.

Snapstream doesn't seem to be the answer. I wonder if there's anything else out there?

Awhile back (couple of months I think) there was a post regarding an independent remote control interface for VLC. You could search for this and contact the author (I seam to remember that email was included) to see what progress if any has been made in this regard.

Most people here have created a playlist that will allow them to change channels. But I'm sure that if a remote interface were available more would be interested.

Logitech Remote Mouse / programmable remote

You could always buy a logitech Mediaplay mouse and program the buttons to use keyboard shortcuts

Alternatively you could buy the Ati remote wonder along with a keyboard setting application and setup the keyboard shortcuts manually.

Just some thoughts :)
