Change subtitle size for MKV files

Postby HomerS2011 » 30 Oct 2024 15:06

Hello,

When I enable one of the subtitle tracks in MKV files, the subtitles appear in a simple white (light gray?) font with a black outline.

No matter where I adjust settings, the font style and size remain the same. Ctrl + mouse wheel changes VLC's own onscreen text size, but the subtitles don’t change. It seems like the font and size are hardcoded in the MKV.

Is there still a way to adjust them in VLC (enlarge them, in my case)? I read on this forum "some files have embedded fonts, and other specify a font family to use"can VLC still manipulate/overwrite this setting?

Windows 10 x64 / VLC 3.0.20

Thanks in advance.

Please post the Media Info report of your files:
https://mediaarea.net/en/MediaInfo/Download/Windows

But if the subtitles are from a DVD or a Blu-ray then they are bitmap images, so they can't be resized, the font and the color can't be changed.

Thank you. Yes, the origin of the MKVs are discs, unfortunately. So this ends this topic.
