Player sometimes stutter/choppy but recover after...

Postby I3ordo » 14 Oct 2024 15:43

Hello,

I want to express my gratitude for VLC Media Player; it's an awesome tool, and I can’t think of an alternative for Windows. However, I am experiencing a playback issue that I hope can be fixed.

Usage Details: I record my game clips using the Game Bar, and while the bitrate is reasonable, I notice that some 30-60 second clips play back choppily. When I rewind to a few seconds earlier, the choppy parts play back smoothly at 60 FPS, as they should.

My impression is that VLC sometimes has difficulty buffering the frames properly during fast and chaotic action—like in a football game, where the camera pans across the pitch and the imagery changes rapidly. This leads to skipping during playback.

While rewinding the video often resolves the issue, it's a minor inconvenience that I hope can be addressed.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Please open Tools -> Messages (set Verbosity to 2) before you start the playback, keep the messages window open during the whole process and then paste the full resulting log here or on Pastebin.com or on Justpaste.it if it's too long.

Also upload a short sample of your original problematic file to WeTransfer.com or Disroot.org and then post the link to the file here.

Hi!
i played through a couple of videos via playlist and tried to include the last 3 actions were play the video(notice its choppy) > skip to previous video(to go back) > skip to next video(to view the choppyness gone this time)
is there a way to add timestamps to the message in verbose level 2?

I'm not sure about what is going on there.
mb.videolan.org ? WTH is that ? It resolve to your-server.de domain

And I'm not sure either that it's the root of your problem.

main error: Timestamp conversion failed (delay 2000000, buffering 46875, bound 9000000)
main error: Could not convert timestamp 67636135633 for FFmpeg
also
d3d11va warning: not enough decoding slices in the texture (6/24)
mp4 warning: STTS table of 1798 entries
