Opening multiple files vs Click & drag multiple files

Postby CaptainCatFlex » 24 Sep 2024 01:49

Hello there,

I am not sure of when the issue started, but I know that I used to be able to select multiple .mp3 files at once, press enter and VLC would put them in a playlist ready to be played.
Now the issue come in where, if I do that, now for some reason, each items will be added one-at-a-time to the playlist. If I had selected 300+ items, the process of adding the item, refreshing the list, play the item over and over again may take several time as opposed to a one time seconds process.

Try this:

Tools -> Preferences (Show settings = All) -> Playlist

There are two options:

Allow only one running instance
Use only one instance when started from file manager

Make sure both options are unticked, save the preferences then exit and restart VLC.

It does the one-at-a-time in the same instance, I was not expecting that to be part of the solution. Thank you.

Yeah I have tried your solution and it does not do the desired behavior.

Here is what it does:
File manager -> ctrl+a, enter -> every item is added in the playlist one-at-a-time which needs to refresh on every siingle items.

Here is what it should do:
File manager -> ctrl+a, enter -> every item drag & dropped in bulk to the playlist.

Here is what I have tried:
Un/check Allow only one instance
Un/check Use only one instance from file manager
