Can't play Blu Ray Discs (VLC is unable to open the MRL)

Postby dannyodare » 10 Sep 2024 12:59

Hello,
I have a freshly installed 64-bit version of VLC (v.3.0.21) using Windows 10 Home 84-bit.

I am totally unable to get VLC to play Blu Ray discs, so have to paly them on my PS5 - which is a bit irritating. When I try to play them, I always get the message:

Your input can't be opened:
VLC is unable to open the MRL 'dvd:///F:\'. Check the log for details.

After researching, this seems fairly easy to solve if you put these two files (keys database and AACS dynamic library) in the right place as outlined here:
https://vlc-bluray.whoknowsmy.name/

But this never works for me, always get the same error message. I have an external Asus Blu Ray reader/writer (SBW-06D2X-U).

My Tech Specs are: Windows 10 Home (64-bit); Intel i5-9400F 6 Core ("Coffee Lake"); Asus Prime H310-Plus R2.0 (Intel LGA 1151 ATX motherboard) (Intel H310 chipset); Palit Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060 Ampere StormX OC 12GB; 16GB Corsair Vengeance LPX (RGB PRO DDR4 3200mhz); Adata SX8200 Pro M.2 SSD 512GB (PCI-E NVMe); Asus STRIX SOAR PCIe 7.1 Surround (with DAC); Corsair CV650 80+ Bromze 650w PSU.

Goy any ideas as to what the problem could be?
