Unable to play 7680x2160 video in windows

Postby clayton006 » 08 Aug 2024 18:21

Hello,

I'm using the latest windows stable client. I record videos using nvidia shadowplay at 7680x2160@120hz with 250mb bitrate. I can play the video through Movies and TV app in windows 11. In VLC, the window attempts to resize multiple times and then gives up and just plays the audio.
A Sample of the is here: https://1drv.ms/v/s!Apy2cyQbjIykrsMWeSB ... A?e=DwPsBI

Yep, it looks like VLC can't play 8k videos using hardware acceleration at the moment, even with graphics cards which is capable of doing it:

d3d11va error: No decoder configuration possible for NV12 7680x4352

You can try without hardware acceleration but depending on your graphics card and CPU it may look like a slideshow.

Looks like with hardware acceleration disabled the problem still persists. I may reply on the other thread and see if someone can report the bug with me with my logs.
