Postby theilliniguy » 28 Jan 2024 19:14

What is your OS ?
What is your VLC version ?

Please open Tools -> Messages (set Verbosity to 2) before you start the playback, and then paste the full resulting log here or on Pastebin.com or on Justpaste.it if it's too long.

Also upload a short sample of your original problematic file to WeTransfer.com or Disroot.org and then post the link to the file here.

Hello, I had the same problem now with version 3.0.20 and 3.0.21, on Win_11. I made a downgrade to 3.0.18 and it works again for me. Another player (Irfanview) could play the .wmv files, so it was a problem of VLC, not the PC or the Codec.

Good luck... VG, NG.

Same problem, same answer. We need a messages log and a sample file.

ello

I have a video converted by FFmpeg that has the format .wmv

With me it played normally in version 3.0.21 final and nightly 3.0.21

The error is this:

main error: Timestamp conversion failed (delay 1000000, buffering 100000, bound 9000000)
main error: Could not convert timestamp 32734717000 for FFmpeg

But I was able to play the video normally.

I believe it must be using an old wmv video codec or the original file is not played due to some bug or error, but with me it played normally.

Link to the short video that says .wmv works in VLC Media Player 3.0.21: https://upload.disroot.org/r/aKG7Xwh3#S ... u7XtIMwAc=

He probably needs to update the software.

Any questions and further opinions will be welcome and appreciated.

This sample file is using a very old codec:

Code: Select all

Codec ID/Info : Microsoft MPEG-4 v3 (pre-standard) Description of the codec : msmpeg4v3

And we need a sample of a non working file.
